Attitude on Granville: Tsim Sha Tsui Boutique Hotel

17 October 2016 in FUN, HONG KONG, SHOP, STAYCATION

Hello there! How are you? It’s been quite a hectic few weeks over here on my side thanks to my academic schedule (at this point, I feel like graduation can’t come soon enough!) and I’ve been thinking about jetting off to my other home Singapore again. While I do that, there may be some of you who are planning trips to bustling Hong Kong and I’m so glad to have a new boutique hotel to share about here on the blog!

I get asked about hotel recommendations in Hong Kong sometimes and I always wished I had a better answer than “I’m not sure”, but now I do have one to recommend! Here’s introducing Attitude on Granville: a new hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui featuring a 70-80s Hong Kong inspired theme, and as you might have already guessed from its name, it’s located right on shopping street Granville Road.

I’ve previously shared about it on my Instagram but I’ll put it here too. In the midst of my endless academia deadlines, I received an invitation from Attitude to pop by to visit the hotel and to experience a stay over with them.

As I have quite a fascination with Hong Kong, when I heard that Attitude was a Hong Kong themed hotel, of course I accepted! As you can see from the pictures, there are photographs and illustrations of Hong Kong along the corridors of every floor. I really liked this attention to detail, and the theme runs throughout the hotel from the entrance, to the lobby and to the rooms as well!

A snapshot of me from the media tour event! They had these fun cutouts to take pictures with and I went for the pineapple bun of course. If there was an egg waffle cutout, you bet I’d have taken another photo with that. ;)

Since I’m talking about food, I must share that Attitude houses one of the branches of Yum Cha, the popular modern Chinese restaurant all over Instagram/Snapchat with the spewing custard buns and fun dim sum. ;)

There are two restaurants inside Attitude, and in addition to Yum Cha, there’s another one called Urban Park, which serves modern European cuisine. But of course, this is Tsim Sha Tsui we’re talking about, so you can also walk out of the hotel and find tons of eating options everywhere!

Let me give you a tour of the room I stayed in! Attitude on Granville has four types of guest rooms ranging in size and mine is the studio suite. But I did tour each type of room and all of them comes with its own Hong Kong design elements. You can click here for more information and photos of each type of room.

I enjoyed the colourful Hong Kong illustrations on the walls and this photograph of how Hong Kong used to look like. My dad tells me this photo was likely taken in the 50s to 60s.

See this wall made up of square bricks? This feature is constantly seen in Attitude (scroll up to see the entrance of the hotel!) and I was told that they are replicas of Hong Kong public housing estate walls from the 60s.

This element is one of my personal favourites: the bedside tables, desk and chair in the rooms are made to look like desks and chairs found in local schools from the 60s-70s!

And here is the night view of Tsim Sha Tsui from my room window, staring right at THE ONE shopping mall (which is where you can find my favourite Dazzling Cafe). By the way, this hotel is a minute walk to THE ONE and a 5 minute walk to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, which makes it very convenient. Also, this might be useful information, so just fyi, Laniege, Innisfree, LUSH and The Body Shop are just down the street and Etude House and Teawood are close by too. You’re welcome! :)

Snapshots of the bathroom, check out the colourful tiles and the mug teaching guests a Cantonese phrase haha, how cute is that!

And finally, here’s a Bruce Lee poster right outside my room. ;) Oh by the way, on a practical note, all of the rooms comes with free wifi and a smartphone with a local number and data.

So that’s the room, below I’ve added a few extra snapshots of the hotel. The reception counter is created with plastic crates used in wet markets, which I thought was a creative way to incorporate the Hong Kong element once again.

So there we go! I hope you liked this post and found it a useful recommendation. If you’re interested in staying at Attitude, the hotel officially opens this month! All web and contact details below if you want to check it out. I would definitely recommend Attitude for its comfy rooms, fun and creative design concept and the convenient location. :)

☀️ A day in the life: out of office edition ☀️

I've been enjoying browsing "a day in the life" posts shared by others, so I thought I'll share one of my own. :) Here's a day I captured, when I was out of office a few weeks ago for a much needed break. 😌

🍳 Started the day at my neighbourhood Starbucks, eating a small breakfast and started on a bit of blogging again~

📚 Popped over to the bookstore @booksbeyond.borders to donate some books and browse more books & wonderful things!

🍽 📽Off to a buffet lunch! Stuffed myself happy, then dashed to the cinema @theprojectorsg to catch a screening of Angelina Jolie's <Maria>

🍵 Walked over to @baristartcoffee_sg inside another bookstore @bookxcess and had grand plans to read my book, but ended up contemplating my career instead. 😆

That's a day in my life (OOO edition), how do you spend yours?

Before we dive head first into 2025, my sister @wording_art and I spent a spontaneous few days in our (other) favourite city: Hong Kong! 🌟

After the craziness of 2024, this sister trip felt like a much needed reset. Thanks HK, for letting us live our best lives. 😄✨️

Some snapshots here, more to come~

2024 has been full of surprises so far! Mostly in great ways though. 😄 This year has also been one of my busiest ones in recent memory. ☁️

In other news, my blog citygirlcitystories.com that I started when I graduated from university turns 10 years old next week! 🥳 Ahh, where does the time go... 😶‍🌫️ Life's demands meant that I took an unexpected hiatus from my blog, but if you'll kindly hope with me, perhaps I could return to it soon! 🍀

The first half of 2024 was tiring... in more ways The first half of 2024 was tiring... in more ways than one. Despite that, I had a hard stop in May to take time off, flew across the world and landed in London, a city that has been on my travel list for ages!! 🇬🇧

A week full of (mostly) British summer weather, incredible art and stunning museums, charming bookshops, the most beautiful libraries, scones and tea, I really enjoyed London! 😊💛

I hope to catch up with Instagram/blogging soon, which I completely fell off from, and there's stuff from Singapore/Hong Kong/London I'd love to share, but for now, here's two candid photos captured by @wording_art reflecting my happiness on this trip. :)

🌼 Looks like I'm doing a weird dance but was actually avoiding rain puddles at Kenwood House, one of my favourite places I visited!

🖼 Visited several of London's wonderful museums and this was at the National Portrait Gallery, where I got to see the famed "Portrait of Mai (Omai)" in person! 🤩 I was following this acquisition story in the news and was especially delighted when I heard that it was on display during my trip. :)

More soon and here's to the second half of 2024! ✨️🤞
Books are a huge passion in my life and for 2024, Books are a huge passion in my life and for 2024, I plan to try harder to bring more of my book recommendations to my blog! :) For my first rec this year, I'm excited to share "Dearest New York: A Love Letter to New York" by Deirdre Gartner @girlintheyellowtaxinyc 🚕

If you'd like to, I'd be delighted if you check out my review on citygirlcitystories.com As a bonus, I also have a Q&A with the author herself! 🤩

I'm actually a huge fan of the @girlintheyellowtaxinyc blog and Instagram, so I loved hearing from Deirdre about life in NYC and her experience being a native New Yorker. Do check out the full author interview on my blog! (link in bio) 🍎
