Chapter 55: Italian Bistro & Gelato

28 June 2020 in EATS, SINGAPORE

It’s phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening right now (Covid-19), which means we’re out of partial lockdown and we can head out and dine out again! It’s been a welcome relief, but I’ve also been taking it slow, especially since I’ve come to discover the joys of chilling at home and catching up with quieter hobbies. :)

Our public libraries are also going to be reopening next week, which is wonderful news! Did you get much reading done over lockdown? I did… meaning that I finished two books and started on four new ones! (Why do I always do this to myself?!)

To tie in with the joy of being able to dine out again, I wanted to share this bunch of snapshots from a popular restaurant in Tiong Bahru called Chapter 55, an Italian bistro. These have been sitting on my desktop for a while, and for some reason or the other, I haven’t gotten round to sharing.

I’m no food blogger, but I know what I like and enjoy eating good food, so after several visits to Chapter 55, I snapped these photos of the place. The things that stand out the most to me about this place are the fun and relaxed atmosphere, happy vibes and the gelato with waffles!

This is a restaurant that leans more towards the casual and easygoing side, and every time there’s a birthday being celebrated, the happy birthday song comes blasting from the restaurant’s speakers, and the staff happily appears bearing a waffle with gelato or a cake with a candle and people usually end up smiling around the restaurant. It’s the happiest thing!

Another thing I enjoy about this place (other than the food and the dessert, of course), is the quirky and fun decorations all around the restaurant! There’s a mural of chefs in a kitchen and lots of fun prints and quotes of London, super heroes and signs reminding you to smile.

While I really miss Hong Kong’s food scene and can’t wait to return to all my favourite Hong Kong foods and egg waffles and a cup of HK milk tea, I really do enjoy the variety that is easily available here in Singapore. Till the next post, cheers to dining out and enjoying our favourite eateries again!

It's been a long tiring week, so I've been having a simple weekend: getting up for breakfasts, book shopping, picking up more books at the library, watching TV and cozy Youtube vlogs. :)

I usually fill my weekends with a full schedule, but 2020 has taught me that quiet slower ones are just as good. 😌

It's already November and I've missed posting abou It's already November and I've missed posting about the 6th blog anniversary of citygirlcitystories.com (which was in October)!

Running this personal lifestyle blog has been such a passion project. ⭐ 6 years in, this blog has journeyed with me from Hong Kong to Singapore, from university to working life. I'm still the same city girl exploring her city though, and I still have plenty of things to share. 😊

I've talked more on the blog (link in bio) with photo memories from the past 6 years. Check it out! 🤗
