Littered with Books: Singapore Bookstore

8 April 2017 in BOOKS, SHOPPING, SINGAPORE

One of my favourite places to spend time in are bookstores. I’ve pretty much been a reader all my life and while some people like the ideas of walk in wardrobes in their homes, I’ve always dreamed about having a mini library/reading nook of my own. Until that happens, I will be spending time in the next best thing: bookstores (and libraries too!). :) There’s something about knowing that you just might discover a great new read and possibly leaving the store picking up a title home with you that I really enjoy.

Last summer, when I visited Singapore, I made sure to drop by this charming bookstore I found out about on Instagram called Littered with Books. I loved this cosy bookstore, which is housed inside a shophouse, takes up two floors, and is just as charming when you see it in person as it looks in pictures! Since I visited last summer, I don’t remember every detail, but I did write this down in my notebook: “walked into the smell of books”, which really, is one of the best smells in the world, isn’t it? :)

Personally, I love all types of bookstores and I shop in a variety of them, from independent ones like Littered with Books, to larger chain bookstores to shopping online for them (a necessity when living in Hong Kong, where English books are very expensive and limited in selection, unfortunately). I feel that it all comes down to personal preference and needs. I recommend Littered with Books as a great place to discover a new book, especially for those who don’t know where to start when it comes to reading or if you’re a little uninspired and looking for a new read.

They have a great selection of titles, with a mix of old favourites and bestsellers, yet also introducing a variety of older and recent titles that I’ve never heard of, across a variety of genres! Something that I really loved about this bookstore are the hand written book quotes and descriptions from different books stuck on the shelves, it’s such a thoughtful and personal touch to introduce titles to browsers. :)

Something else I noticed as well is the fact that books are literally everywhere, even on the chairs! It’s pretty awesome! I thought that this matched the name of the shop very well, haha! To see more updates on the store and their books, do check out their blog for more, I love browsing it for reading inspiration!

Since this is a post sharing about a bookstore, I must recommend one of my favourite reads The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell. It’s a book sharing stories of more than 300 bookstores around the world. It’s an amazing one. For more reading ideas, I also regularly update my virtual bookshelf on the sidebar of this blog (to the right –>) with the book I am currently reading! [P.S. Click on the image as I always link it to the book’s webpage!]

2020 felt so slow, but 2021 has me feeling like time is flying by. The year started and as I race along trying to keep up, it's April! Perhaps it's the spring themed everything going around, but I'm feeling hopeful for new beginnings again.🌸

It's been a long tiring week, so I've been having a simple weekend: getting up for breakfasts, book shopping, picking up more books at the library, watching TV and cozy Youtube vlogs. :)

I usually fill my weekends with a full schedule, but 2020 has taught me that quiet slower ones are just as good. 😌

It's already November and I've missed posting abou It's already November and I've missed posting about the 6th blog anniversary of citygirlcitystories.com (which was in October)!

Running this personal lifestyle blog has been such a passion project. ⭐ 6 years in, this blog has journeyed with me from Hong Kong to Singapore, from university to working life. I'm still the same city girl exploring her city though, and I still have plenty of things to share. 😊

I've talked more on the blog (link in bio) with photo memories from the past 6 years. Check it out! 🤗
