Hit the Road: Cozy Causeway Bay Cafe

12 February 2016 in EATS, HONG KONG

Update: Hit the Road cafe has closed down in September 2019. :(

It’s been a cold winter this year in Hong Kong, which I’ve been loving, as it’s perfect for pulling out all my layers and boots! It has made getting up for work in the morning way harder though haha!

With this cold season, I thought now would be a good time to share this cozy cafe I visited last year called Hit the Road located in Causeway Bay. It’s an upstairs cafe in a very peaceful space, large windows with a view and it’s a refreshingly calm and slow hangout (their description from their Facebook page says “We are the slowest cafe in Hong Kong.”) in the middle of bustling Causeway Bay.

To me, I think this is the perfect kind of spot to sit down with a book or catch up with a friend or even just to catch up with some work. It’s the kind of place I think would be nice to be in on a cold day where you just want to stay indoors or on a rainy day where you want a cozy cafe to be in. :)

The decor is quirky and cute and I love that it has shelves of books and magazines available for browsing. I’m a huge reader, so any place with books is a good idea to me!

The one bad point is, I personally feel that this cafe is quite pricey for an upstairs cafe. I visited once, during afternoon tea time, and while the food is good and the staff polite, the prices along with the additional 10% service charge, does add up to a little more than I expected for a small cafe like this.

We got two afternoon tea sets pictured here. One was the French Crepe (with nutella and banana) that came with a choice of an Americano or lemon tea ($55). The other was the Friand that came with the same choices of drink ($45). The tea sets were yummy, but like I said, pricey, as the portions are small and these prices are before service charge.

With that said, I still recommend this quirky and cozy little space! It’s difficult to find such a comfortable space in Hong Kong and sometimes, when you need a break or just a space to hangout with someone away from the hustle of the city, this just might be what you’re looking for. :)
